about

The first split I ever did, and it was with my best friend Dan of Randy's Got a Playdough Face. These are two songs I wrote at the tail end of high school that I didn't like for a while, but I look back on them so fondly now.

Track Name: Cocoons
Move the mountains, hydrating fountains. Regret is the taste you can't get out of your mouth. And oh God, why won't you love me? And for moments we are glad, but these moments pass, oh, where does it all go?

Sleep in cocoons while life buries you.

Spitting fire, swallowing water. The world doesn't revolve around you. Keep talking loudly, all you're doing is screaming silently to anyone who will listen. Just please, let me see, that all that will be is not set in stone.

Sleep in cocoons while life buries you.

I wish I could leave, I wish I could bleed, I wish I could need you like you need me.
Sleep in cocoons your whole life.
Track Name: Restless Sleep
The contrary corners of your lips yearned for something more, and when I couldn't give it to you, you pointed at the door. And when words broke your lips, I didn't know how else to feel but empty all the time. Your young bones are restless you need to sleep, you're dreaming of the west, but the rain keeps you up, sleep on the drive home. The passenger seat's empty and I'm longing for company. Please stop staring, this time I'm serious.

I found self worth, I found validation in your not so subtle commentary. Is this the shallow side of me, putting your purity ring aside, trying to hide who I am?

A map of your brain and these varicose veins speak chapters of your life. I watched you fall apart with everything else in the pouring rain. Are those teardrops in your eyes or memory's desire? I'm a horrible liar, I thought you knew. Your heavy heart's sinking because no one's listening. Please stop trying, I think you're offended.

I found self worth, I found validation in your not so subtle commentary. Is this the shallow side of me, putting your purity ring aside, trying to hide who I am?

Who will keep you clean when you're knee deep in filth? And with each step you take you stub your toe on the dirty bedroom floor, it makes me miss you some more. I think I've missed you some more.
